The legendary mattress store owner from Houston is back and this time he’s locked in a bet for Super Bowl Sunday. Let’s take a closer look at the details.
Mattress Mack Places Crafty Super Bowl Bet
When people hear about Mattress Mack’s big bets, they first think that he’s simply laying down a huge bet on a side of either the World Series or the Super Bowl or other major events. However, there is far more to it.
For this year’s Super Bowl – Super Bowl LV – Mattress Mack has placed a $3.6 million bet on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on the point spread at +3.5 at DraftKings Sportsbook. On the surface, it seems like Mattress Mack is simply a big believer in Tom Brady and company. At a closer look, he’s created a win-win situation for himself.
Mattress Mack has launched a promotion at his ever-popular Gallery Furniture stores that stipulates the following: if you spend $3000 on a Sealy, Tempur-Pedic or Stearns & Foster mattress, box spring or various other products related to the beds, you get them for free if the Bucs win the Super Bowl.
Smart move, right?
So, if the Bucs win, Mack wins his big bet at DraftKings Sportsbook but then he loses in his stores as he then has to give out a lot of free mattresses.
However, if he loses the big bet, then he’s just created a huge number of sales for his business. For customers, it’s fun because now they might get themselves a free bed.
The other key here is that Mattress Mack and his Gallery Furniture stores get an incredible amount of marketing each time he places these bets. After all, look at us: we’re talking about them here.

As for DraftKings Sportsbook, they’re happy to take the action as they’ll just aim to off-set it by shifting lines around and having people bet on the other side, and do the regular bookmaking.
Mattress Mack Can Win Both Ways
One aspect of all of this that isn’t getting enough attention is the fact that Mattress Mack can win both sides of this bet.
Remember, he took Tampa Bay Buccaneers +3.5 but his in-store promotion is not the spread; it’s simply if Tampa Bay wins the game outright. That leaves a window where Mattress Mack can win both ways.
If the Kansas City Chiefs end up winning Super Bowl LV by either one, two or three points, then Mattress Mack is going to collect on both ends. Not too shabby.
What’s interesting to note is that when the Kansas City Chiefs and Tampa Bay Buccaneers met in the regular season, the Chiefs won the contest 27-24. Mattress Mack will be pulling for a similar result.
