It’s time for a new series for NJBetting.com , Bets Of The Week – as we’re going to be sharing some of the best and most exciting picks of the week, every week.
As the new week gets underway, we’ll give you a rundown of what sporting events to look forward, featured matchups, the best online NJ sports betting odds, our picks, and any NJ sports betting bonuses available.
Here’s a look at this week’s edition of Bets Of The Week:
We start off with a National League East baseball game on Tuesday that caught our eye.
1. MLB – Miami Marlins @ Washington Nationals
Odds: Washington National -185
Date: Tuesday, 7:05 PM ET
The Marlins and Nationals – the two teams immediately above and below the New York Mets in the National League East standings – will meet up on Tuesday and it looks like the Nats should have a good edge on the mound.
The Nats are playing well right now as they exited the weekend having won seven of their last 10 games and 22 of their last 33 games. They’ll put Patrick Corbin on the bump and he’s been fairly reliable at home this season.
On the road, he’s just 3-4 with a 5.26 ERA and a 1.44 WHIP. Opposing batters are hitting .260 against him in away games.
At home, Corbin is 4-1 with a 2.17 ERA and a sparkling 0.89 WHIP.
Opposing batters are only hitting .181 against him at Nationals Park.
This Bets Of The Week selection wast selected for obvious reasons…
Corbin has faced the Marlins twice this season, pitching a complete game shutout against them on May 25th and then giving up just one run over seven innings in a win on June 26th.
The visiting Marlins will put youngster Zac Gallen on the mound as he’ll be making his third career start. He lost against the Nats last week, going just 5.0 innings while giving up three earned runs.
NJ Betting Pick: Nationals at -185
2. Women’s World Cup – England vs United States
Odds: at PointsBet
USA -278 / England +200
Date: Tuesday, 3:00 PM ET
I’m going to take a flier with the United States on Tuesday when they face England in the Women’s World Cup semifinals. The two sides will square off at Parc Olympique Lyonnais in Decines-Charpieu, Lyon.
Although England has been an upstart in this tournament, this World Cup is – as per usual – the United States’ to lose. They have been heavy favorites from the start and haven’t done anything to indicate otherwise.
They’re fresh off a big win over the tournament hosts, France, who were the second favorites to win it all. Their defense has performed really well while England has had lapses at that end, at times.
That should be the difference as the U.S. should expose them one or two times. That’ll be enough.
I’m betting the USA on the two-way line, so if we end regulation in a draw, the bet pushes.
NJ Betting Pick: USA -278
3. Wimbledon – Quarter 1 Winner
Odds: Djokovic -239
Date: All Week Starting On Monday, July 1st
Wimbledon gets underway this week at the All England Lawn and Country Club. Of course, you can bet on the individual matches but PointsBet has a slew of props on the board…
- I like the one where I can choose the winner of Quarter 1.
That’s the section of the draw that includes Novak Djokovic and I expect him to roll right through.
Not only is he the defending champion at Wimbledon and a player who has won three of the last four grand slams overall, he’s been to the quarters at Wimbledon in nine of the last 10 seasons.
He’ll have some tricky matches – like Philipp Kohlschreiber in the opening round – but he doesn’t face a seed lower than No. 19 along the way to the quarters. I like him at -239 to win his section.
4. Other Things To Watch This Week
New York Yankees-New York Mets Subway Series – The Yankees are back from their trip to London and now visit the Mets for a pair of contests on Monday and Tuesday. The Yankees start the week having won five straight and 13 of their last 14. Meanwhile, the Mets have lost seven of eight.
UFC 239: Jones vs Santos – the UFC returns to T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas this Saturday when main draw Jon Jones takes on trash-talking challenger Thiago Santos. The odds makers aren’t expecting an upset as Jones is favored at -626 while Santos comes in at +420.
3M Open – The PGA Tour heads to the TPC Twin Cities in Minnesota this week. It will be a star-studded field on the course as Brooks Koepka, Jason Day, Patrick Reed, Phil Mickelson, Bryson DeChambeau and Hideki Matsuyama will all be in contention.
See you next week with NJ Betting’s… Bets Of The Week!
