Tiger Woods Returns to PGA Play this Weekend

Posted on July 14, 2020 - Last Updated on May 29, 2023

Few names in modern sports have wowed spectators or drawn the attention as Tiger Woods. The man responsible for the resurgence in golf’s popularity for over a decade has gone through a historic rebuild in character and play to emerge still popular among fans and the betting public with Tiger Woods odds boosts.

Woods has sat out the return of tour play since the restart but will be in the field as they come to “Jack’s Place” for the Memorial Tournament in Columbus, Ohio. He’s won the tournament five times in 17 starts and has never missed the cut at Muirfield.

Woods has been off the tour since February when he finished 68th in the Genesis Invitational and complained of issues with his surgically repaired back. His season started nicely with a top-10 finish at Torrey Pines. He skipped a few events before the tour went on hiatus in March.

The 2010s were not kind to Tiger. His top-10 last year at the Memorial was the first finish that high since winning in 2012. However, his resurgence last season, including the stunning win at the Masters that saw bettors clean up against NJ sports betting sites, should pique some interest.

Tiger Woods Odds at FanDuel

As of Monday afternoon, interest at most NJ gambling sites is starting to pick up for the Memorial.

A spokesperson for FanDuel said, “It’s a little too early to tell on Monday if betting handle will increase with Tiger’s return to the links, but if history tells us one thing – Tiger does drive TV Ratings and in turn fantasy and sports betting interest.”

Woods is +2700 to win at FanDuel, who has also placed Bryson DeChambeau as the favorite at 10/1.

FanDuel Sportsbook is also offering this promo:

  • Anyone who bets $25 or more on any golfer to win will receive $2 in site credit for every birdie or better recorded during the tournament by that player.

Former NFL punter and new FD commentator Pat McAfee is also offering an odds boost on Woods making the cut:

Tiger Woods Odds at DraftKings

DraftKings has priced Woods at +2500 to win his 83rd PGA event and break the tie with Hall of Famer Sam Snead as the career leader in victories.

So far, the early NJ sportsbook bettors have flocked to Tiger, with 21 percent of the handle and 16 percent of tickets sold.

DeChambeau, also the favorite on this book at +1000, has drawn four percent each of bets and handle.

DK also has an opt-in odds boost that offers +125 for Tiger to make the cut.

Tiger Woods Odds at Fox Bet

FOX Bet also has DeChambeau as a +1000 favorite, just ahead of Justin Thomas.

Fox Bet Sportsbook NJ is running an opt-in promo that guarantees money back if a golfer bet as the outright winner finishes in the top 10, up to $50. That can be used for bets on multiple players.

It will be an exciting weekend of golf with Tiger returning to compete at Muirfield. He should be in contention as things progress if his body has healed well.

How will he fare against guys who have been grinding out 72 holes for the past few weeks (and are much younger)?
