Another exciting week is on the horizon for college football fans. We’re starting to see more teams begin conference play with some interesting College football betting lines & match-ups we’ll preview.
Unlike Saturday’s electrifying LSU-Texas game and the impressive Texas A&M-Clemson match-up, there is no matched vs. matched contest this week. However, there are some interesting games on the docket.
College Football Betting Lines – Week 3
We’ll be checking out prices for some of the biggest College Football match-ups this weekend on DraftKings, along with some insight that hopefully will help decide which way to play.
Pittsburgh at #13 Penn State (-17)
Ok, I’ll admit, I’ve been a raging Penn State fan since my dad ran me from an oatmeal bath to the TV room during the 1987 Fiesta Bowl where the Nittany Lions won the title over Miami. This game is the latest in a great rivalry that has fallen to the conference realignments.
Penn State is 2-0 after two non-conference wins over weaker competition. New quarterback Sean Clifford has taken the helm and shown perhaps the best combo of pocket skills and touch since Kerry Collins.
Pitt dropped their season opener to division rival Virginia before beating Ohio last week. Quarterback Kenny Pickett has been just over 50 percent in accuracy with just one TD versus two INTs and four sacks.
Penn State has seen the defense play well in the first two games, forcing turnovers and sacks. This seems like a mismatch so follow this line as PSU money could certainly move it. If the Nittany Lions can put up points like they have the last two weeks, that 54 could hit in three quarters.
#1 Clemson (-28) at Syracuse
This is a fascinating match-up between two teams with interesting recent history. The Orange pulled the upset when the two met last in the Carrier Dome in 2017.
Clemson has looked very tough except for their match-ups against the ‘Cuse. The Tigers withstood a challenge from A&M at home last week.
Syracuse is trying to recover from one of the largest point losses a ranked team has suffered to an unranked opponent. They fell to former ACC member Maryland 63-20 at College Park last week.
That 28 seems a big number for a team like Syracuse who plays Clemson tough and has a lot to prove at home in their conference opener. The 60.5 doesn’t reflect the previous encounters.
#2 Alabama (-26) at South Carolina
There are a few common things we’ve come to associate with the onset of fall: the start of school years, the return of everything pumpkin spice flavored, and the appearance of Alabama Crimson Tide football on CBS television virtually every week.
Nick Saban’s charges will make their 2019 debut on CBS as they open their SEC schedule against South Carolina. They’ve rolled up two dominant wins against Duke and New Mexico State.
The Gamecocks lost late to North Carolina in Charlotte before bouncing back against Charleston Southern. They’ll face a tough foe at home.
26 seems about right for the college football betting line, while 60 should be easy for over to hit. Money could move these college football betting lines during the week.
Arkansas State at #3 Georgia (-33.5)
The Bulldogs opened with a win at division foe Vanderbilt before an easy win last week. They’ll welcome another non-conference opponent in the Red Wolves.
It’s a big number but the SEC East College football Bowl champs have looked really good so far this year. Could be worth a shot but the 57.5 total seems quite a high number.
Northwestern State at #4 LSU (-51)
Initially this game was not on the board when Week 3 prices hit. The Tigers are roaring after their big win in Austin. While Alabama couldn’t cover 55 last week, this 51 seems a closer chance.
#5 Oklahoma (-23) at UCLA
The Sooners have just plugged in Jalen Hurts at QB and the schooners just keep rolling. Two dominating wins have the Big 12 powerhouse looking keen to top the conference again.
UCLA is not having a good start. After losing the opener in Cincinnati, they dropped the home opener to San Diego State to the smallest crowd they hosted since the 90s.
Chip Kelly needs some of his magic that made Oregon a national power or he’s about to 0-3 in Tinseltown. Oklahoma could make this a runaway and might have do most of the work to hit the total.
